Welcome to Bowling Green, Virginia
The Mayor of Bowling Green, the Bowling Green Town Council, and the Bowling Green Town Staff invite you to experience one of Virginia's most historic communities. Bowling Green is located in the center of beautiful Caroline County, Virginia at the intersection of State Routes 301, 207, and 2 and just eleven miles due east of Exit 104 on Interstate Highway 95. Caroline County was recently named a 2009 "All-American City". The Town of Bowling Green is situated adjacent to Fort A. P. Hill, a U.S. Army installation and training facility, on its Northeast boundary. Located just 15 miles to the South off Route 301 are The Meadow Event Park which hosts the State Fair of Virginia along with other events throughout the year and King's Dominion. For the golf enthusiast and purist, Mattaponi Springs Golf Club offers a nearby golfing experience on a course that is ranked 2nd in the nation by Golf Digest.
Take a walk along our tree-lined streets. Stroll through the historic district and see the Colonial and Victorian homes. Visit the Civil War Trails sites and view Sidney King’s Union Occupation Mural on the lawn of the 1835 Jeffersonian Courthouse. Dine at one of the restaurants, shop with the merchants, and spend the night at one of the inns. As you arrive in and depart our Town, take advantage of driving along the historic Washington-Rochambeau Route of September 1781.
On this site you will find information about Town Office and Departments, biographies of Town officials, Town Council Minutes and Agenda, Planning Commission Minutes and Agenda, the Town Code, the Comprehensive Plan, the Annual Drinking Water Report (CCR), various forms and applications used to conduct business with the Town, and other items of information that you can view, download, or print on this site. Also, the Master Calendar for all Town meetings, recurring events, and special events is available here.
For our residents and those who are considering visiting or moving to our Town, there are “I want to” questions which are routinely asked of and answered by our Town Staff. Please take the time to look at all of the questions and let us know if the information is helpful and if other questions and answers should be added to keep valuable information at your finger tips.
Through this site we will provide historical facts about our Town; information on events, festivals, and celebrations held in our Town and surrounding area; applications for crafters, food vendors, and organizations who desire to participate in Town-sponsored events; and a picture gallery of historic and recent pictures of events, people, and items of interest.
We hope you will take the time to experience all areas of our Town’s website and let us know your thoughts regarding how we can make it better for you as a Town resident, visitor to our Town, or future resident. We look forward to seeing you in Town.
