Armando Flores 

Mr. Armando L. Flores was appointed to Planning Commission to fill the unexpired term of Cindy Plachinski from April 9, 1998 to December 31, 2000.  He was reappointed to continuous terms with the current term ending on March 16, 2017.  He has previously served as Chairman of the Bowling Green Planning Commission.

Mr. Flores was born on September 7, 1946 and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Upon graduation from Roy Miller High School in 1965, he joined the United States Army. He retired from the active duty in May 1986.  Mr. Flores began work at Fort A.P. Hill in March 1992 and he was appointed Motor Vehicle Operator Training Leader, Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia in August 2000.

His service with the Army and DOD Civilian spans a wide variety of assignments, culminating as Motor Vehicle Operator at Directorate of Logistics, Fort Dix, New Jersey. In addition, Mr. Flores served at Headquarters & Headquarters Troop, 4/12 Cavalry, Fort Polk, Louisiana; Headquarters Company, 1st/36th Infantry, Germany; Headquarters Motor Vehicle Operator’s Course, Fort Dix, New Jersey; Headquarters Company, 3/68th Armor Battalion, Germany; Directorate of Reserve Components, Fort Dix, New Jersey; Post Headquarters, Fort Dix, New Jersey; “B” Company Transportation Battalion, Okinawa; 21st Transportation Company (Car), Korea; Officer’s Training Course Cadre, Fort Benning, Georgia; and 23rd Infantry Division (Americal) Vietnam.

Mr. Flores attended PLDC School and Noncommissioned Officers’ Course, Camp Casey, Korea, and Advanced Noncommissioned Officers’ Course, Fort Eustis, Virginia.  His other training includes Jungle Training, Panama; Advanced Infantry Training, Fort Ord, California; and Basic Training, Fort Polk, Louisiana.

His military awards include the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal (7th Award), National Defense, Overseas Service Ribbon, Noncommissioned Professional Development Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and Combat Infantry Badge.

Mr. Flores was a member of the Madison Ruritan Club from 1997 to 2001. He became a member of the Reedy Church Ruritan Club in 2001 and has served as President, Vice-President and Board Member.  He is also a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 12295 and American Legion Post 221 in Bowling Green since 2007.

Mr. Flores is currently working as a Motor Vehicle Operator Training Leader, Transportation Motor Pool, Directorate of Logistics, Fort A. P. Hill, Virginia.
